SNAP Benefits to Increase

According to a USDA study, nearly 90% of participants in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program reported having a hard time affording foods for a healthy diet. Nutrition Specialist Sandy Procter says the increase in benefits will provide SNAP recipients more flexibility in purchasing healthy foods.

Proctor says for the Fiscal Year 2022, which begins October 1st, the average SNAP benefit, excluding funds provided as part of pandemic relief, will increase $36 per person per month.
