USD 446 in Independence has reinstated its mask mandate policy for 30 days.

Masks must be worn during normal school hours, from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. This will continue until September 24th. The mandate will be reevaluated every 30 days, allowing administrators to either extend or end the requirement for masks.

Any student who tests positive for COVID-19 must complete a ten day quarantine period, which may be shortened to seven days if certain qualifications are met. Quarantine exemptions are allowed for students who are fully vaccinated and remain asymptomatic.

This plan was put in place utilizing recommendations made by the Montgomery County Health Department, the KDHE, and the CDC.
