A man was caught during an attempted burglary in Independence.

The Independence PD responded to a call of a man breaking into a home on the 100 block of S. 25th Street. Officers arrived to find the back door of the home destroyed, and 40-year-old Clayton Bond was confronted within the home. Bond threatened an officer with a hammer before throwing it down and began pushing, fighting, and kicking officers. As more officers arrived Bond continued to fight arrest, multiple officers were kicked before Bond could be subdued.

Bond caused major damage to the inside of the home and is currently being held in the Montgomery County Department of Corrections awaiting an appearance before a judge.
