Attorney General Derek Schmidt helping Fight off Robocalls

 

Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt has joined Attorney Generals from 49 other states and the District of Columbia to asking the FCC to continue to help states fight off robocalls by accelerating small telephones company's to implement specialized caller ID technology. The TRACED Act became law in 2019 which requires phone company's to implement STIR/SHAKEN technology on their networks.

 

Large telephone companies were given until June 2021 to implement the technology while smaller telephone companies were given an extension until June 2023. The FCC is being asked the Attorney Generals to implement and require these telephone company's to get the STIR?SHAKEN technology is up and running as soon as possible and no later than June 30th, 2022. In Kansas Attorney General's consumer production division works to enforce do not call laws to keep people from being harassed or scammed.
