Officers Stop Potential Suicide

Montgomery County Sheriff Deputies and Coffeyville Police Officers stop a potential suicide. Sheriff Deputies were notified by CPD of a male subject along a riverbank southeast of town, who was armed and considered suicidal. The subject was located near Old Parker Bridge and identified as Timothy Meyer of Bartlesville.

Deputies spoke with Meyer until a sheriff’s office negotiator arrived on scene. During negations, Meyers would occasionally point the firearm at deputies before he eventually tossed it into the river. Officers were able to place Meyer into custody without further incident. After being inspected by EMS, he was transported to the department of corrections and booked for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a law enforcement officer. Sheriff Ron Wade said he is very thankful for the combined teamwork in locating and safely taking Meyer into custody without incident.
