A local K9 officer and his partner are recognized as the K9 team of the week. The Kansas Police Dog Association has recognized the team of Montgomery County Sheriff Sargent Jeremy Hunsucker and K9 Hector.

Sgt Hunsucker started his law enforcement career with the sheriff’s office in March 2009 and became a K9 handler in 2010. K9 Hector is a two-year-old Belgian Malinois and German Shepard mix, imported from Europe. Hector is currently certified in narcotics detection through KPDA and is being trained in patrol work.
