The Coffeyville City Commission unanimously approved a resolution allowing the police department to apply for more grant funding.

The Federal Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistant Grant is made available each year for police departments to apply for. Police Chief Kwin Bromley was not present at Tuesday's meeting; however, City Clerk Melissa Carter said any funding received would be used to purchase equipment crucial to officer safety.

The grant does not require a local match. The meeting lasted one hour, with most of it dedicated to an audit report of the 2020 fiscal year. The commission will meet once again in two weeks.
