Third SEK Lake Added To Warning List

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has added Parsons Lake to the blue-green algae warning list. Due to the warning, the lake has been closed for swimming and other in-water activities. Boating and fishing are still allowed but officials warn that people and pets should not enter or drink the water. Exposure to the lake water cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, irritated eyes, seizures, and breathing problems.

Lake Parsons is the third lake in the area to be given a blue-green algae warning after Bill Hill Lake in Labette County received the warning last month and Altamont Lake Main City Lake two weeks ago. The Altamont City Lake North Lake is currently under a watch.
