Man Arrested For Allegedly Hitting a Man with a Bat

 

A Pittsburg man is behind bars after allegedly hitting a man with a bat during a disturbance.

 

On Sunday, July 11, officers with the Pittsburg Police Department officers were were dispatched to a residence in Northwest Pittsburg for a report of a disturbance. As officers arrived in the area, they located a man walking east on 23rd Street who was bleeding from his forehead, mouth, and left ear. The victim reported to the officers that he was struck in the head with a baseball bat upon arriving at the residence. The victim was transported to Ascension Via Christi Hospital before being transferred to Freeman Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, where he remains in stable condition.

 

After an investigation, the suspect was identified as 35-year-old Derek Edward Junk. Junk was arrested without incident on Thursday. Junk was transported to the Crawford County Jail where he is being charged with one count of aggravated battery. He is being held in lieu of a $25,000 bond.
