COVID-19 Vaccines and the Delta Variant Discussed

Several cases of the Delta variant of COVID-19 have shown up in southeast Kansas in the past week and COVID numbers are up over the entire state. Dr. Joe Meier of the Wilson Medical Center says while the Delta variant isn't more dangerous, it is extremely contagious.

Vaccinations in the state have stagnated as only 48% of eligible Kansans have completed their vaccinations, according to the KDHE. Dr. Meier says aside from maybe a few minor side effects in a small portion of the population, the vaccines are safe and important.

Dr. Meier encourages everyone to get vaccinated with whatever vaccine they most feel comfortable with. The complete interview with Dr. Meier can be found here.
