The Labette County Fair Board received a donation of $50,000 from the Labette County Commission to replace the lights at the rodeo arena which is estimated to cost $100,000. The commission also agreed to match up to $25,000 in private donations.
The fair board said they want to replace the 30-year-old lights with LED lights and the wiring in the arena needs to be replaced as well. The lights were in the process of being replaced in anticipation of the night shows which begin with the ACRA / IPRA Rodeo on Wednesday and Thursday night and concludes with the demolition derby on Saturday night.
