Chief Harrison Explains Misdemeanor Arrest Procedures

 

The justice system can be confusing at times as it is hard to understand why some people who are in custody after allegedly committing a crime are not arrested. But as Independence Chief of Police Jerry Harrison explains, they are sometimes not allowed to make an arrest.

 

Chief Harrison did say that there are narrow exceptions to the Kansas law.

 

Chief Harrison also says that there are laws where the police “Shall Arrest” a person to comply with the law. Shall Arrest examples include DUI, Domestic Violence, and Fleeing and Eluding.
