A 73-year-old Kansas man was killed after a weekend in Frontenac.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Virgil McCulloch was driving Saturday night on Cayuga Street just south of U.S. Highway 160 when his SUV went off the right side of the road. The vehicle hit a set of mailboxes and a driveway then sped up rapidly and hit a concrete storm ditch culvert.

He was taken to a Via Christi in Pittsburg where he succumbed to his injuries. McCulloch was not wearing a seatbelt.
