Coffeyville continues to improve the look of their neighborhoods, whether through remodeling homes, cleaning up vacant lots, or planting community gardens. To help encourage people in this, Reawakening's Peggy Steele says a contest has started that will run through Labor Day.
Steele says the commemorative bricks are valued at around $40 to $50 and are really hard to come by. The “Don't Spit on the Sidewalk” bricks are a part of Kansas's history that dates all the back to the early 20th century.
