New K9 Joins Montgomery County Sheriffs Department

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s office has a new member on their force. Sgt. Jeremy Hunsucker recently traveled to Southern Coast K9 in Florida and completed selection testing on numerous K9’s, selecting a Belgian Malinois and German Shepherd mix, named Hector. The K9 passed all health requirements and remained at the training facility, receiving specific training requested by the sheriff’s office.

Hector is a two-year-old male imported from Europe. He is currently being trained in narcotics detection and patrol techniques to assist departments in locating suspects in tracking, building and area searches, article recovery and apprehension. Once fully trained, he will be certified through the Kansas Police Dog Association. Sheriff Ron Wade says he would like to thank the businesses and individuals who donated to the K9 program, making this possibility a reality.
