Enforcement Campaign On 4th of July Weekend

Kansas law enforcement officials are joining other states in a national effort to crack down on impaired driving during the Fourth of July holiday by participating in the safety campaign, “If You Feel Different, You Drive Different.” The campaign’s goal is to deter impaired driving and reduce alcohol and drug-related motor vehicle crashes and fatalities.

On average, more than 415 traffic crashes occur over the Fourth of July weekend in Kansas each year. This is attributed to increased traffic and impaired drivers. Kansas officials will be focused on keeping impaired drivers off the road to keep everyone safe.

Officials urge those who do plan to drink to plan ahead before celebrating. Designate a driver in advance who has not consumed alcohol or used marijuana or other illegal drugs. You also can contact a ride-sharing service or have alternative arrangements for lodging.
