The Montgomery County Commission heard and received a budget request from CLASS, Ltd. at its latest meeting Monday.

President/CEO Scott Thompson spoke before the commission and requested that at they at least receive the same level of funding, $48,000, that they have had for the last four budget cycles. Thompson said he would like the commission to keep them in mind as a target for a potential budget increase.

Thompson said CLASS has been given more in the past, as early as 2016, when they received $94,000. Any assistance received, Thompson said, would help the company hire and retain more employees.

The majority of CLASS funding comes from the state. It maintains five offices, including Coffeyville and Independence. Other offices include Pittsburg, Columbus and Parsons.
