A Montgomery County Sheriff Deputy was patrolling rural Dearing when he observed a White 2005 Pontiac Prix. The vehicle had been reported stolen earlier this month. The deputy had information that the possible suspect could be armed with a handgun. After conducting a felony traffic stop, the deputy was able to take the driver and passenger into custody without any incident.

The driver was identified as Phillip Oyler of Independence and the passenger as Sherri Wallace of Independence. Oyler was transported to the Montgomery County Department of Corrections, Wallace was released from custody and the vehicle was returned to its owner. Oyler has recommended charges of aggravated domestic battery, aggravated assault and theft of a motor vehicle.
