Due to a shortage of staff, the Independence tag office will be temporarily closed starting today. County treasurer Nancy Clubine first informed the county commission of the closing at its meeting a few weeks ago.

The treasurer's office will remain open in Independence, and will be staffed by one member who can process tag renewals, lien releases and issue handicapped placards.

The Coffeyville tag office is still open, with office hours from 9 am to 4 pm. No title transactions may be processed after 3 pm, but no appointments are needed. All services are offered in Coffeyville. The office is located at 128 W. 8th Street.
