Routine Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest in Indy

A traffic stop in Independence leads to a drug arrest. A Montgomery County Sheriff's Detective pulled over a red Chevrolet pickup at 10th and Laurel. The truck had no visible brake lights or turn signal due to smoke-covered brake lights and a large amount of dust. The drive was identified as Jerry Lowry Jr, of Neodesha.

Deputies observed drug paraphernalia inside the truck and after a search of the vehicle deputies located a large amount of methamphetamine and more drug paraphernalia. Lowry was taken into custody and transported to the department of corrections. He is being charged with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, improper use of turn signal and driving while suspended.

Sheriff Ron Wade said if any citizens have information on illegal narcotics activity anywhere in the county you can contact the sheriff's office at (620)330-1000 or Facebook messenger.
