Shots Fired & Pursuit in Pittsburg

One man was arrested and another remains free after a police chase in Pittsburg Monday evening.

Pittsburg Police Department officers were called to the intersection of 10th St. and Michigan Street regarding a report of shots being fired at pedestrians. Upon arrival, officers learned that a white Chevy Impala had pulled up next to two people who were walking on 10th Street during which the occupants of the vehicle shot at the pedestrians. The Impala fled the area and was followed by witnesses to follow report its location.

Officers encountered the vehicle and a pursuit ensued. After a chase that crossed into Missouri, the Impala eventually wrecked, at which point the driver and passenger fled the vehicle on foot. Cherokee County Deputies deployed their K-9 and the driver of the Impala, 30-year-old Zachary Winemiller of Pittsburg was located and was taken into custody.

The passenger from the Impala was not located, and their identity is unknown at this time.
