Vehicle Recovered Shortly After Being Stolen

A car that was stolen over the weekend was recovered in less than 15 minutes after it was reported.

Pittsburg Police Department officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1100 block of South Elm Street for a stolen vehicle report. The victim reported he witnessed a white female with long white hair get into his 2021 Nissan Altima and drive away. The victim had a video doorbell system, which showed the female approach the door of the residence. The female then took the house and vehicle keys, which had been left in the exterior lock of the door. Officers were able to identify the suspect as 55-year-old Tammy Sue Wells of Pittsburg.

Just 13 minutes later, an officer observed the vehicle driving north on Broadway, and a traffic stop was conducted in which Wells was taken into custody without incident. It was found that Wells had taken the vehicle through the McDonald’s drive-thru, and purchased breakfast before being apprehended.

Wells was arrested for felony theft and was transported to the jail at the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office for booking.
