Sixteen months after the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Montgomery County is ending its disaster declaration.

Director of Emergency Management Rick Whitson said the county has largely been following the path of the state as a whole during the coure of the pandemic. With the state about to close its own declaration, he said it was time to do so as well.

Whitson noted that they could always request more assistance if the need arises in the future. Previously, the disaster declaration had been extended "until rescinded."
