The remains of a fallen soldier killed in action during the Korean War are being returned to Coffeyville for burial.
PFC Bill Freemont Hobbs, of South Coffeyville, was listed as MIA in November of 1950 near Chosin Reservoir in North Korea when the heavy mortar ammunition truck he was driving was bombed.
In 2018, after President Donald Trump met with North Korea Chairman Kim Jong-un, an agreement was made that 55 boxes of American remains would be returned to the U.S.
Subsequent DNA testing identified the remains of Hobbs after being missing for 68 years. Funeral services for Hobbs will be conducted on June 26th at 11 am at the Memorial Patio at Fairview Cemetery in Coffeyville.
