A City of Independence Sanitation Department truck was involved in a single-vehicle rollover accident east of Independence while on their way to the county landfill. The three employees in the truck have all been transported to Labette Health’s Independence Emergency Room for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Assistant City Manager David Cowan said the top-of-mind concern at this time is the well-being of the team members who were involved in the accident. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident, and the city will conduct a full review as well.
