Montgomery County Commission Approves Bid, New Stop Sign

The Montgomery County Commission has approved a bid for corrugated metal pipe, albeit at a much higher price than they paid last year.

The three-piece commission approved the bid from Fensco, Inc. out of Jenks, Oklahoma. The price, which was the lowest bid, came in at $47,977. Other bids came from companies out of Hutchinson, Salina, and Jefferson City, Missouri.

Public Works Coordinator Jim Wright supplied the commission with numbers outlining the price increase of metal pipe from November 2020 to June 2021. In some cases, the price has increased over 85%. Wright said the companies do not expect that price to drop back down to previous levels until 2022, if ever, for a number of reasons.

In other business, the commission approved the placement of a stop sign at County Road 3950 and 5400. The stop sign will be placed on 3950, while 5400 will remain open.
