Police Searching for Man and Stolen Vehicle

Caney Police are looking for a man who bought a car with a bad check.

Jamie Ochoa of Arkansas City filed a stolen vehicle report with the Caney Police Department. Ochoa reported that the vehicle had been posted on Facebook for sale. A person by the name of Chris Phillips showed interest in the vehicle that was advertised for sale. The two parties agreed on a price for the car and met in Caney.

Phillips paid Ochoa with a check for $13,000 for a 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer with the Kansas personalized Tag PNCHEVO. The check which Phillips paid for the vehicle was no good and Ochoa reported the car stolen to Caney Police Department. Both the victim and Caney PD were able to determine that Chris Phillips' true identity is Anthony Carpenter of Bartlesville. The vehicle and Carpenter have not been located at this time.

If you see this car or Carpenter, contact Caney PD at (620) 879-2141. A picture of Carpenter and the car can be found below.
