Labbette County Commission Chairman Apologizes

A Labette County commissioner apologizes to the citizens of the county. Commission Chairman Lonie Addis started the end-of-the-month meeting by apologizing for not allowing a citizen of the county to speak at the meeting. Addis said he felt like they had plenty to cover and he wanted to concentrate on the 2022 budget.

The chairman doubled down on the apology when he posted in a “Renewable Energy Awareness - Labette County” Facebook group. Addis said in the post he wanted to apologize to Brad Owens who had asked to speak the day before their end-of-the-month meeting. He went on to say anyone who resides in Labette County, should always be allowed to address the commission at a regular meeting as long as they are courteous and to the point. Lindsey Wilson was used as an example by Addis on how she respectfully addressed the board in asking for a moratorium. Addis, referring to himself as a political warhorse, ended the post by saying he will do better by going forward.
