Four County Mental Health Presents Budget to Montgomery County Commission

Four County Mental Health presented its budget to the Montgomery County Commission at its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday.

Prior to the official start of Monday's meeting, the three commissioners ran a work session with the Independence City Commission. Following that session, and following a brief report from Public Works Coordinator Jim Wright, the Independence-headquarted Four County Mental Health Center presented how it spends the money allocated to it by Montgomery County.

Executive Director Greg Hennen said the center serves 8,300 unduplicated residents of Montgomery County, and also serves residents of Chautauqua, Elk, Cowley and Wilson Counties. Hennen also outlined some of the services the center provides, including alcohol/drug counseling and mental health services.

Richard Horton of Project 17 also attended Monday's meeting, advocating for several counties in southeastern Kansas to work together in regards to legislative business in the state's capital.

The commission will meet once again next Monday.
