A second domestic violence-related aggravated assault occurred in Parsons in less than 12 hours over the weekend that led to a Parsons man being arrested on multiple charges.

Parsons Police responded to the 2000 block of Grand Morgan regarding a report that 19-year-old William T. Phillips was holding a 6-month-old baby and was armed with a handgun. A caller reported that Phillips was sitting on the front porch of a residence displaying the handgun while holding onto the child. Responding officers were able to de-escalate the situation and the child was safely removed from danger and taken back to the mother. The child was uninjured.

Phillips was taken into custody and arrested on charges of Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Criminal Threats, and Possession of Marijuana.
