The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office has received a K-9 grant from the foundation of a prominent NFL quarterback.

The Ben Roethlisberger Foundation at the Giving Back Fund announced the distribution of over $90,000 to police and fire K-9 programs across the country. Cherokee County is one of 15 departments to receive the grant, which also includes programs in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Kentucky, among others.

Roethlisberger is the quarterback of the NFL's Pittsburgh Steelers. Thursday's grant completes the 14th and final grant cycle for his foundation,  which focuses on supporting K-9 units of police and fire departments throughout the United States. It has distributed more than $2.3 million since 2007.
