Law Enforcement Agencies Work Together to Prevent Crime

Multiple law enforcement agencies work together to help prevent crime in Independence and the surrounding area.

Late last week, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Independence Police Department, Chanute Police Department, Kansas Highway Patrol and the Kansas Bureau of Investigation worked together to make 25 contacts, search five vehicles, issue 18 citations, 12 warnings, and arrest seven people. Officers seized marijuana, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.

Sheriff Ron Wade and Independence Police Chief Harrison said this operation continues to show how strong partnerships between the state and local agencies are, because criminals don’t limit their violations to one city or county they must all continue to fight crime together.
