Two arrested after a stolen vehicle is recovered in Caney. Officers executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 500 block of South High Street in Caney. Located in the garage was a 2004 Dodge Ram, which had been reported stolen to the Independence Police Department on March 31st. The truck had been partially stripped and was in the process of being repainted.
Officers later located and arrested 38-year-old Shane Schmidt and 47-year-old Lana Miller. Schmidt told officers he had traded a ½ pound of marijuana for the truck but never received a title. Both Schmidt and Miller were arrested on charges of felony possession of stolen property.
