High Risk Rural Road Funding Awarded to Two SEK Counties

Montgomery County is one of 16 counties that has been awarded funds from the Kansas Department of Transportation to make improvements to an intersection on the Coffeyville city limits.

Governor Laura Kelly and Transportation Secretary Julie Lorenz announced that the approximately $8.5 million will come from the Kansas High-Risk Rural Roads program.

Montgomery County will receive just over $1.1 million in HRRR funding to improve the shoulders on County Road 4700 between the south city limits of Coffeyville and the Kansas-Oklahoma state line and to make geometric improvements at the intersection of county roads 4700 and 1450.

The other county in southeast Kansas that received HRRR funding for highway improvements was Cherokee County.
