A 49-year-old Chanute man was arrested over the weekend on interfering with law enforcement and a Neosho County warrant.

Chanute PD officers went to the 1600 block of South Highland looking for an individual that had an outstanding warrant for their arrest. Officers noticed an adult male standing in front of a residence next door. Officers recognized the individual having a warrant for his arrest. Officers talked with the man and informed him he was under arrest for the warrant.

The individual failed to comply with the officers and after a short scuffle, officers arrested David Allen Engel for the Neosho County warrant and interference with a law enforcement officer. He was transported to the Neosho County Jail.
