Alcohol Approved to be Served at Coffeyville "Hops Around Town Beer Festival"

The Hops Around Town Beer Festival returns to Coffeyville this fall after the event was canceled in 2020 due to COVID-19.

The Coffeyville city commission approved unanimously for the public consumption of alcohol on 9th and Walnut streets for the event to be held on October 9th. The exemption for the festival temporarily lifts city law forbidding the consumption of alcohol in public areas.

The last time the event was held in 2019, there were over 200 people in attendance from 14 difference cities that were counted, according to Chamber of Commerce Director Candi Westbrook. During the festival, there was heavy security on-hand, but according to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, there were no incidents reported. This year, there will be over 20 breweries and wineries from the area serving samples, and Westbrook is hoping for 300 people to attend.

Westbrook also shared with the city commissioners that the economy for the city is doing well. A high school rodeo will take place at the fairgrounds this weekend which will also bring hundreds to Coffeyville and help the city's economy.
