The City of Independence will be celebrating Arbor Day this Friday with a ribbon-cutting of 18 trees planted on Oak Street leading up to Riverside Park. Independence Chamber of Commerce Director Lisa Wilson tells how the seed got planted for the project.
Wilson then took this idea to the Chamber's Pride Committee and the Independence Tree Board and each group started to work on different parts of the project.
The Ribbon Cutting with begin at 11:30 am at the corner of 5th and Oak near the Aquatic Center. For more information, call the Independence Chamber at 620-331-1890.
