The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department had a busy day earlier today with two separate drug busts. 

In the first incident, deputies made a traffic stop at Main and Wald in Independence and discovered the driver was Peter Eugene Olsen of Coffeyville who had a warrant for his arrest.  Upon further investigation deputies located items associated with illegal substances.  Olsen was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on a number of drug charges, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and driving without a license, registration and no insurance.

Meanwhile in Cherryvale, the Sheriff’s Office was conducting a search for a subject wanted in a neighboring county. Deputies stopped a vehicle being driven by Deedra Bright of Cherryvale who had an outstanding warrant.  During the stop deputies saw illegal narcotics in the vehicle in plain view.  While searching the vehicle deputies discovered crystal meth and marijuana.  Bright was booked into the Montgomery County Jail on multiple drug charges.
