The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Department is requesting the public's assistance in identifying a suspect in an attempted robbery.

During the morning hours of April 12th, the suspect attempted to steal a mower near Valley Road and Road 31 in the northeast corner of Chautauqua county. However, the crime was thwarted by a citizen in the area.

The citizen, and the department, described the suspect as a shorter, white male wearing a gray jacket, floppy style hat and black COVID-style mask. The suspect was also accompanied by a dog, described as a white, mid-sized dog with black spots and a red collar.
