Armed Robber Quickly Arrested in Parsons

A robber was quickly apprehended after he held up a convenience store in Parsons Monday night.

Officers responded to a reported armed robbery at 1430 Main Street and secured the business and the area surrounding it to collect evidence. After speaking with witnesses and viewing security footage, officers determined that the suspect was 24-year-old Jumani Damu Ngozi Coleman of Parsons.

Police followed a lead and made contact with Coleman at his residence in the 1300 block of Wilson. The officers received a search warrant on the house and discovered the clothes seen in the surveillance video along with an undisclosed amount of money and the weapon that was utilized in the robbery. Upon closer inspection, the weapon was identified as a pellet gun, which was made to resemble a Taurus semi-automatic pistol.

Coleman is expected to be charged with aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, and theft. Coleman has had previous run-ins with law enforcement. He was convicted in a 2015 robbery of Eisele's Jewelry in Coffeyville. He received 32 months in prison and was forced to pay just over $15,000 in restitution.
