Busy Day at Montgomery County Commission Meeting

At the most recent Montgomery County commission meeting, County Appraiser Diana Carter gave an update on appeals.

She said that they have half of the appeals this year than they did last year. Carter said they have 238 compared to 421 in 2020. She went on to say that they could pay under protest, but Carter hopes that they are just appealing.

The values have gone down, Carter said, but she mentioned that she has some pretty big ones coming up. They will have the final totals on June 1st and Carter says that she expects it to be less.

Carter then announced that she plans to retire on July 1st. She said she is proud of how much progress has been made over the last three years.

In other business, Carter held an executive session and so did County Treasurer Nancy Clubine. Caney Valley Speedway had their cereal malt beverage license renewed and there was the approval of the destruction by shredding of the county clerk’s records.
