Using Ear Tags for Cattle Fly Control

Insecticidal ear tags are a fly control method of choice for many grazing cattle managers. K-State Veterinary Entomologist Cassandra Olds says producers should employ them properly this grazing season.

Olds says under-dosing can help the insect build up a resistance to the insecticide, so that means that the timing of product administration becomes highly important.  Olds says you want to make sure you tag both ears so both sides of your cattle are exposed to the insecticide.
