Parsons 2020 Crime Statistics

The Parsons Police Department released their crime statistics for 2020.

Parsons saw a drop in five of the eight core crime statistics. There were nine more assaults, three more robberies and one more homicide than 2019, but the city saw a decrease of batteries by 34, 40 fewer thefts, 11 fewer vehicle thefts, 24 fewer burglaries and one less rape.

Parsons Police Chief Robert Spinks said, “Even with everything that was going on throughout the country with mass riots, looting and just general chaos, Parsons PD was still able to have a successful major case clearance rate, and lower the amount of property crime in Parsons."

The police department saw a 13% increase in 911 calls, however. This was credited to a lot of people calling regarding mask ordinance violations, business inspections and animals calls.
