The Caney Police Department arrested a man for multiple charges including trespassing and domestic battery.

Caney PD got a report of a suspicious vehicle parked at the Caney Agri Service late Monday evening. Officers were able to determine the suspect in this incident had been criminally trespassed from his estranged wife’s residence and further discovered that the wife had filed a protection from abuse order on the suspect.

Officers spoke to the estranged wife at the residence in the 500 block of W 2nd Street. She confirmed that the suspect was 29-year-old Brent Howland of Caney. Howland was located hiding under a bed, covered with blankets, in a bedroom of the home.

Officers were able to determine that Howland had gained entry by cutting a screen on a window located on the back side of the home and prying the window open. Once inside the home, Howland’s estranged wife attempted to call the Police at which time Howland allegedly struck his estranged wife in the head causing an obvious injury to her face and ear. Howland was taken into custody by officers without incident.
