Financial Assistance Available for Driver's Ed Students

The Kansas Department of Transportation is providing financial assistance for students who attend driver's education courses.

The Eisenhower Legacy Transportation Program is a pilot Driver Education Reimbursement Grant program in state fiscal years 2020–2023. The intent of the program is to help individuals who may otherwise not have been able to participate.

The driver education provider will receive reimbursement of actual program enrollment fees up to $200 per eligible student following completion of the program and submission of KDOT’s Qualification Voucher and Reimbursement Request to be provided later.

Students who qualify must demonstrate a financial need with a household income not exceeding 200 percent above the federal poverty level, are between 14 and 29 years of age and a legal resident of the State of Kansas, has not had their driving privilege suspended, revoked or restricted, and can obtain a certificate of completion.

A form must be filled out beforehand which can be found here.
