A 28-year-old man has been arrested on a laundry list of charges. Chanute police officers initiated a traffic stop in the parking lot located in the 100 block of East 28th Street. During the investigation, officers learned that the driver of the vehicle had an out-of-county warrant for his arrest. Edgar Anaya-Alvarez was taken into custody for the warrant, along with charges of no turn signal and driving with a suspended license.
During a search of the vehicle, officers discovered over 1 kilo of marijuana, over 10 pounds of THC syrup, over 400 Xanax bars, over 80 THC vape cartridges, 12 grams of cocaine, several miscellaneous pills, and a 9mm pistol.
Anaya-Alvarez received additional charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana within 1,000 feet of a school, possession with intent to distribute narcotics within 1,000 feet of a school, possession with intent to distribute 100-1,000 dosage units within 1,000 feet of a school, possession of opiate, criminal possession of a firearm by a felon and possession of drug paraphernalia.
