Marshals Search For Recently Released Oklahoma Murder Suspects

United States Marshals are looking for two murder suspects that were recently released from jail in northeast Oklahoma. Authorities are considering them armed and dangerous.

The men are identified as 46-year-old James Buzzard of Grove, Oklahoma, and 18-year-old Dakota Buzzard, also of Grove. The murder occurred in 2019 when the two men fatally shot Jerry Tapp at his home.

The men were last seen last Friday and were released because no courts filed new paperwork after a 2020 U.S. Supreme Court ruling on tribal jurisdiction. The Delaware County Sheriff's Office stated that neither federal nor tribal courts had paperwork for the men so the Delaware County Jail had no legal authority to hold them.

However, now new paperwork has been filed. The District Court of The Cherokee Nation Criminal Division issued first-degree murder warrants for both men.

The men have connections to Galena, authorities say. If you have information about where they are, contact U.S. Marshals at 1-877-WANTED2 or USMS Tips at www.usmarshals.gov/tips.
