U.S. 69 Resurfacing Project to Begin at Fort Scott

The Kansas Department of Transportation plans to begin work on a U.S. 69 resurfacing project at Fort Scott on Monday, March 29th. The project starts at the south U.S. 54 junction and continues south for six miles, ending ½ mile south of K-7.

Project activity includes concrete patching, and a mill and asphalt overlay. The contractor will start at Wall Street and work south. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction at the work zone, with a width restriction of 12 feet. Flaggers will direct traffic on side roads.

KDOT awarded the $2.9 million construction contract to Bettis Asphalt & Construction, Inc., of Topeka. Weather permitting, the road work should be finished this summer.
