A female victim came into the Caney Police Department to report she had been involved in a physical altercation. She had obvious bruising and injuries to her face, arms, and legs. She was transported to the hospital by Caney EMS for her injuries. Officers located and detained Shane Schmidt at a residence located in the 400 block of South State Street in Caney.

After conducting interviews and reviewing evidence, officers arrested Schmidt for domestic battery. Schmidt had an outstanding warrant out of Washington County, Oklahoma for violation of a protection from abuse order, involving a different female victim in Oklahoma. Schmidt was transported and booked into the Montgomery County Department of Corrections.
