Impact of February's Winter Storm Still Unknown

The City of Coffeyville is still trying to find out the impact of the winter storm on customers of Coffeyville Light & Power.

Currently, it is unclear how the city's suppliers will handle energy cost adjustments related to the weather event as they are still working to calculate their impact as well. Once those suppliers know the costs and impact the energy crisis had on their own entities they will know whether or not they have to pass on those higher costs to the city. At that time, Coffeyville will be able to assess how, if at all, this will affect its customers.

Customer electric base rates will not change, however, the city may not know the full extent of the financial impact this event caused until possibly April or May. If customers notice any increase in their March bill, it is due to higher energy consumption used to heat homes during the extreme weather event in February and does not reflect any cost adjustments passed down from suppliers.
